Home Improvement Program (HIP)
The Board of Freeholders through the Community Development
Office Offers a home improvement program for income eligible homeowners
who live in one of our CDBG participating communities. (all towns
except Camden City, Gloucester City, Gloucester Twp. And Cherry
Hill).*
Improvements can include Heating, Plumbing, Electrical, Roofs and
Carpentry. Improvements are based on eliminating health and safety
hazards for low to moderate income homeowners.
Income eligibility is based on the Section 8 guidelines. Homeowners
must live in the property, taxes must be currently and have homeowners
insurance.
Funding is made available as a deferred payment loan. No interest
accrues or monthly payments required. A lien is placed on the property,
when it is sold the funds are paid back to the program to assist
another Home Owner in the future.
