Description:
The former site of a large gelatin manufacturing plant, North Camden's Knox
Gelatin was also a shipyard and a disposal site for demolition debris and
used roofing materials. The site is located on the Delaware River, near
the mouth of the Cooper River, just west of Pyne Poynt Park. This park is
the beginning of the Cooper River Greenway, which Camden City and Camden
County are extending eastward to Route 130. BPUM's Poets Row Industrial
Park lies to the west of the site, and the Pyne Poynt residential neighborhood
sits south of Erie Street. The City has improved the western end of Erie
Street and Delaware Avenue along the river into an industrial boulevard
to facilitate traffic movements in the area.
